President Prabowo Subianto has always had a strong bond with farmers, as stated by Dedek Prayudi, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office. This connection can be traced back to two crucial moments in Prabowo’s life. Firstly, during his military service, he received significant support from local communities and farmers. Secondly, when he led the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI). Dedek, or Uki, shared these insights during the grand corn harvest for the Food Security Program in Jenggalu Village, Bengkulu Province. He emphasized the importance of the food security program, particularly with the current global climate requiring Indonesia to reduce reliance on foreign food supplies. Uki highlighted the potential consequences of major food-producing countries halting exports, which could lead to soaring global food prices. The corn harvest in Jenggalu Village yielded about 10 tons from 1.5 hectares, showcasing the benefits of government support like subsidized fertilizers and pesticides. Uki urged the village head to expedite administrative processes for farmers to access subsidized fertilizers, emphasizing the need for optimal utilization of government resources. Kelik Budianan from the National Food Agency reaffirmed support for President Prabowo’s program, collaborating with the State Logistics Agency to absorb farmers’ corn harvests. Efforts are also being made to integrate the supply chains of farmers and livestock breeders to ensure favorable prices and market conditions. This initiative was discussed in the presence of various officials and stakeholders, including district heads and representatives from relevant organizations.
