Presiden Communication Expert Describes CKG Program as Starting Point to Healthier Nation
Hariqo Wibawa Satria, the Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), emphasized the significance of the Free Health Check (CKG) program as a crucial step towards a healthier nation. According to Hariqo, CKG plays a pivotal role in promoting a shift in mindset towards prioritizing health and well-being. He stated that CKG serves as the initial phase towards liberation from diseases, fostering awareness and encouraging individuals to make their health a lifelong priority.
Hariqo expressed optimism that with each passing Independence Day celebration on August 17, not only would the nation commemorate another year of freedom, but also witness a growing number of Indonesians liberated from various illnesses. The administration of President Prabowo has introduced a series of comprehensive and continuous priority programs, including CKG, the “Stop TB” campaign, revitalization of regional public hospitals, and special allowances for medical specialists serving in remote and underserved areas.
Despite Indonesia marking its 80th year of independence, the country still grapples with the burden of diseases that pose economic and social challenges. While life expectancy hovers around 73 to 74 years, illnesses continue to impede productivity and hinder gross domestic product (GDP) growth. Studies have revealed the substantial economic impact of illnesses on the nation, highlighting the need for strategic investments in healthcare.
Hariqo underscored the importance of CKG as a preventive measure and a means of providing health education to communities. He noted the prevalence of health issues among Indonesian children, such as diabetes, obesity, tooth decay, and vision impairments due to excessive gadget use. By empowering more citizens to be free from illnesses, the nation can foster national development and economic growth, as a healthy population directly contributes to improved life expectancy and enhanced human resource productivity.
Additionally, Hariqo emphasized that enhanced public health would lead to a significant boost in the workforce’s contribution to GDP. Studies suggest that a substantial reduction in illness rates could result in an annual GDP growth of 1–2 percent. Ultimately, investing in health is not only a social imperative but also a strategic economic asset that can propel the nation towards a healthier and more prosperous future.
