President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, took part in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as the head of state of a newly admitted full member. Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, highlighted the focus on strengthening international economic cooperation during the summit. The Leaders’ Declaration from the summit outlined key agreements, with a particular emphasis on promoting peace, security, international stability, and enhancing economic, trade, and financial cooperation. Indonesia specifically hopes that the BRICS framework can facilitate increased market access for Indonesian products. Apart from the founding BRICS members, the summit also welcomed newly admitted countries like Indonesia, Egypt, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.
