Toyota decided to rest Sami Pajari on the road section after stage five on Friday (6/27/2025) due to fuel system issues on the GR Yaris. The Finnish driver was locked in the battle for the podium, sitting in fifth place after briefly being in second place.

Pajari rejoined the rally on Sunday after having to sit out on Saturday because Toyota couldn’t fix the issue with his car.

M-Sport also experienced fuel system problems with Martins Sesks’ car on Friday, forcing the team to rest his car before stage seven. The team managed to replace the fuel tank so Sesks could start the stage on Saturday.

It is believed that all Rally1 teams were monitoring the issues throughout the weekend, while Rally2 cars seemed to have avoided problems.

Motorsport.com understands that another fuel system issue forced M-Sport to withdraw Gregoire Munster on Saturday night. He was driving a smart rally to sit in sixth place and was on track to score much-needed points before M-Sport identified the problem.

It is unclear what exactly caused the fuel system issues, although it is widely believed that the extreme heat in Greece, with cockpit temperatures reaching 70 degrees Celsius on Friday, was a catalyst for the problems.

These issues arose in the fourth event since the WRC changed to a new fuel supplier after P1 Racing Fuels went into administration earlier this year. FIA quickly moved to appoint TotalEnergies as the WRC fuel supplier, with the French supplier starting its tenure since the Rally Islas Canarias in April.

“FIA has been made aware of issues impacting the fuel tanks on certain Rally1 cars and is supporting the relevant teams and suppliers to understand and address these issues,” FIA statement said.
