President Prabowo Subianto is confident in Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions on time, positioning the country as a pioneer in this regard. In a video conference marking the inauguration of renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s capacity to efficiently generate energy and reduce logistics costs. He stressed that energy independence is essential for Indonesia’s vision of national sovereignty and outlined the government’s plan to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to provide clean and reliable energy nationwide.
Prabowo applauded the collaborative efforts of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transition. While recognizing the country’s significant oil and gas reserves, he underscored the importance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in achieving energy self-sufficiency for communities across Indonesia. Prabowo is optimistic about Indonesia’s future, highlighting solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By tapping into renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
