French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. Macron highlighted the deep cooperation between Indonesia and France, emphasizing that their friendship goes beyond symbolic gestures. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, where they discussed opportunities to enhance the strategic partnership in various aspects such as the economy, technology, security, and culture.
The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been maintained for 75 years, with significant progress achieved in recent years. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and praised the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition initiatives.
Cultural collaboration was also a major focus of Macron’s visit, culminating in the signing of a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the growing friendship between the two nations. Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from President Prabowo and expressed optimism for continued joint efforts during his official two-day visit to Indonesia.
