BIAK NUFOR – PT PLN (Persero) successfully supported the peak event of Sail Teluk Cenderawasih (STC) 2023 held at Samau Beach Area, Biak Numfor, on Thursday (11/23/2023). With uninterrupted power supply, the event attended by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) went smoothly.
During his speech, Jokowi said that Papua, which has abundant natural resources, is Indonesia’s front porch in the Pacific region. Cenderawasih Bay, which has the richest marine ecosystem, can be the right choice to introduce Indonesia’s maritime, tourism, and socio-cultural potential.
This is in line with this year’s STC which carries the theme ‘Strengthening Indonesia’s Maritime Sovereignty in the Pacific’.
“With the peak event of Sail Teluk Cendrawasih 2023, the culture, dance, music, and local products of Papua can be introduced at the national and even international and global levels. This will encourage the number of tourists, event creators, and investors to come and develop the land of Papua,” said Jokowi in a written statement on Saturday (11/25/2023).
Jokowi hopes that events like STC 2023 can be continued and improved, especially by involving more people and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This way, the benefits of this event can be felt by the people of Papua even after the event. At least, the peak of STC 2023 is estimated to be attended by 10,000 people.
PLN Distribution Director Adi Priyanto said that PLN ensures the reliability of electricity for the event, supported by the Biak electrical system with adequate generating capacity. With a capacity of 36.39 KW and a peak load of 16.7 KW, there is still a reserve power of 19.69 KW available.
“Alhamdulillah, PLN’s electricity supply is proven reliable, so the peak event can proceed without any problems. By using and maximizing the adaptive defense scheme, the event runs with uninterrupted power,” said Adi.
PLN General Manager of the Papua and West Papua Regional Main Unit, Budiono, stated that they are ready to be on standby 24 hours to secure the 12 locations involved in the series of events. To ensure the reliability of the supply, they also provide supporting equipment such as three Mobile Substations (UGBs), three Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), nine generators, and a Mobile Cable and Cubicle Unit (UKKB).
“We endeavor that critical points must not have any interruptions, especially for the opening, peak, and closing events. Thanks to the hard work of all electrical warriors and the stakeholders involved,” said Budiono.
